NORTH Queensland made it back-to-back wins over Brisbane this season, running out 12-0 winners in Townsville on Friday night.

It was a intense affair throughout the match, with the half-time score locked at 0-0, but the Cowboys were able to collect the two competition points with converted tries to Gavin Cooper and Kane Linnett in the second term.

The victory consolidates the Cowboys' place inside the top eight and they move to an 8-6 record, while the Broncos will slip from second to third as a result of their defeat.

Cowboys co-captain Johnathan Thurston admitted the result could have gone either way.

"There wasn't much in it," he told Grandstand.
