A 20-year-old Morayfield woman has been rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a critical condition after being struck by a car.

A Police Media spokeswoman said the incident happened shortly before 5.50am on George Street, between King and Hasking streets, Caboolture.

Sergeant Greg Price from the Burpengary forensic crash investigation unit said the woman had suffered "serious head injuries".

He said police were still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

George Street was closed between King Street and Bertha Street, but has since been reopened.

A red hatchback with a severely damaged bonnet and smashed windscreen remained on scene at 8.35am.

The driver of the car, a 47-year-Morayfield man, stopped and rendered assistance. He was not injured.

Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who may have seen a pedestrian or a red car on George Street between 5.45 and 6am to contact Crimestoppers.
