FEAR for the future of Mary Valley will be put aside this weekend with the staging of the annual Mary Valley Festival at Kandanga Recreation Ground.

Giant puppets of the animals of the Mary River environs blending with a spectacular solar laser show, accompanied by awesome music, will be the highlight of this year's event, which gets under way at noon.

The puppeteers, musicians and lighting team have been working solidly for months now on the project called Sounds of Mary to bring us the best Mary River Festival so far.

But this is only part of the festival, which will also have storytelling, a movie tent showing environmental videos, a speaker's tent, environmental products, good music, good food, children's activities and plenty of local community spirit.
