Sue's Takeaway makes Brisbane's Best Burger list

AFTER moving to Bribie two years ago, Paul Rivers was a man on a mission - to find the best burger on Bribie.

After a bit of searching, he found his holy grail of burgers at Sue's Takeaway in Banksia Beach.

"Opinions will vary, but I couldn't find any good food on the Island," Mr Rivers said.

"I sort-of worked it out myself and stumbled across Sue's Takeaway."

The Bongaree resident said he is more than happy to commute regularly to the other side of the island to get his hands on one of Sue's creations.

"I get the spicy deluxe chicken schnitzel burger," he said.

"It's just yum - it's so tender.

"It's great quality and the ingredients are fine and fresh."

So last week, Paul was driving to work when Triple M Brisbane's Marto and Ed Kavalee called on their listeners to nominate their favourite burger joint for their "Best of Brisbane" series.

Naturally, Paul immediately phoned the radio station to enter Sue's.

Voting has since closed, with Sue's Takeaway crowned the third best burger in Brisbane.

For Paul, he thinks it's just another reason for people to make the trip to beautiful Bribie.

"Anybody who comes over should go to Sue's," he said.

For Sue Venderley, the chef of Bribie's favourite takeaway, business is booming in the wake of the burger-off.

"We've got customers coming from all over the place now instead of just locals.

"On the weekend we had people from Beenleigh, the Sunshine Coast; even from Caboolture today to try our new breakfast burger."

With a focus on sourcing from fellow Bribie businesses, Sue's Takeaway showcases the Island's best.

"Our chicken comes from Woorim Beach Meats and all our vegetables come from Wright's Fruit Barn," she said.

"We want to support our local businesses as best we can."

American-inspired food with fresh ingredients, homemade sauces, plus gluten-free, lactose-free, and vegetarian options are exactly why a small takeaway shop on Bribie Island was able to hold its own against some of Brisbane's best.
