Teen's 3am joy ride through Rockhampton ends in a crash

A 17-YEAR-OLD learner driver's joy ride in his friend's car through Rockhampton yesterday finished with a bang when he crashed into a taxi on the corner of Archer and George Sts about 3am.

Police said the young man was driving alone when the accident occurred and no one was injured.

They said he attempted to evade police when officers tried to intercept him, but police were not chasing him at the time of the crash.

The teen was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, failing to stop for a stop sign, and driving unaccompanied with a learner's licence.
