EVEN the threat of rain couldn't keep the eager competitors from taking part in the Dusk to Dawn at Caboolture Historical Village on the weekend.
Race director Geoff Williams said predicted heavy rain never arrived, but the light showers that sprinkled competitors was enough to keep them cool.
"It was very refreshing and was enough to wipe the sweat off their brows," Williams said of the rain. "It was an enjoyable weekend and great to see so many entrants and supporters at the village for the event."
Williams said a total of 116 lined up at the start with 28 competitors participating in the 12 hour solo run/walk, 32 competitors taking part in the six hour run/walk event and seven entries for the 50km.
"Previous winner John Pearson took line honours in the 12 hour solo section of the race clocking up an impressive 127.5km followed by Martin Hack from North Rockhampton with 122km and Malcolm Gamble from Victoria with 117km," Williams said.
"The first female across the line for the 12 hour solo section was Kerrie Williamson with 106.5km with Cindy Hasthorpe finishing next on 98.5km and Victorian Cheryl Symons following closely behind on 97km."
Line honours in the 12 hour relay went to Ipswich Grammar with their Open team finishing on 149km and their coaches team notching up 145km.
