MACKAY teenager Danielle Gutschlag is chasing her dream of becoming a supermodel.

The 16-year-old St Patrick's College student and cheerleader will be representing Australia in an upcoming World Supermodel South Pacific competition in Fiji in April.

Ms Gutschlag said she fell into modelling when she was about 10 years old and loves the fashion and camaraderie in the modelling world.

She has so far had photos published in a number of international publications, and models for Mackay boutiques and jewellery businesses.

Ms Gutschlag, who learnt modelling at Brooke Lee Modelling and Deportment School, said it could be a difficult industry to break into and she hoped the competition would help her gain some exposure.

Currently Ms Gutschlag is trying to raise $3000 to fly her and her competition wardrobe to Fiji. She is hoping to partner with a Mackay region business for sponsorship and advertising.
