5pm: POLICE have caught and charged the man allegedly responsible for the theft at the Criterion Hotel this morning.
This Jason Donovan, a 36-year-old, was arrested and charged with one count of stealing.
He faced Rockhampton Magistrates Court and was bailed, with his next appearance to be on April 18 this year.
10.30am: POLICE are heading to a Bolsover business where The Criterion robber has been sighted.
A man robbed The Criterion Hotel this morning after ordering breakfast.
What we know so far:
- the man is described as middle-aged, Caucasian, thin build, a bit of facial hair, bald headed wearing a camouflage patterned sweater with a hood.
- It is believed he was last seen headed towards the bridge along Quay St
- He was carrying a white bag with money inside and a takeaway container.
- He hid in bushes of a business on Victoria Parade for an hour after robbing the pub
9.30am: A MAN who robbed The Criterion Hotel this morning may have hidden in bushes of an accountant's office to avoid police.
Reports indicate someone rang Policelink about 8.30am this morning to report a man loitering at the back of the Victoria Parade business.
It is believed he asked for a drink of water and was told there was a tap in the carpark. Reports indicate he did not go near the tap and kept asking for a drink before taking off towards the riverbank.
Police are now searching the area.
8.15am: A MAN who robbed The Criterion Hotel this morning ordered breakfast, reached across the counter and grabbed money from the till.
Police are searching hostels in the area and bottle shops that open early for the offender.
7.35am: POLICE are hunting for a man who has just robbed The Criterion.

The man stole the 'float' money off the receptionist.
Reports indicate the man was eating breakfast at The Criterion before the robbery.
