Bashed for helping woman badly hurt in car crash

A GOOD Samaritan has been bashed while trying to help a woman badly hurt in a car crash at Old Beach, on Hobart's Eastern Shore last night.

The crash happened on Old Beach Road, Old Beach about 7.30pm when a silver Volkswagen and black Commodore collided head-on.

Emergency crews worked to extract the female driver of the Volkswagen who was taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious internal injuries.

Police who attended the scene said a good Samaritan who went to help the trapped woman was assaulted by one of the occupants of the Commodore.

The driver and occupants of the Commodore then fled the scene in a silver Commodore.

Tasmania Fire Service officers and ambulance crews attended the scene.

Police have called for any witnesses who may have seen the black Commodore in the Old

Beach area before the crash or who witnessed the crash or assault to contact
