Bruce Hwy reopened after crash forces closure near Bowen

UPDATE: The Bruce Highway, approximately 45 kilometres north of Bowen is now open following an earlier traffic crash.

Initial information suggests that just before midnight last night, a hatchback collided with a four-wheel-drive heading in the opposite direction at Guthalungra.

The female driver of the hatchback has been airlifted to Townsville Base Hospital in a serious condition.

A female passenger of the hatchback and a male driver of the second vehicle both sustained injuries.

The Bruce Highway, at the scene of the crash, was closed for a period of time, but is now open.

There is no further information available at this stage.  Investigations are continuing.

EARLIER: The Forensic Crash is investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred on the Bruce Highway just north of Bowen.

Just before midnight last night, Police were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash that occurred at Guthalungra, about 45 kilometres north of Bowen.

One person has been airlifted to Townsville base hospital in a serious condition.

The Bruce Highway is closed in both directions at the scene of the crash.

There is no further information available at this stage. 

Investigations are continuing.
