FASHION Week in England's capital was dynamic, youthful and vibrant with a plethora of fresh talent inspired by heritage, street style and contemporary culture.
The See Now Buy Now concept was in place at many designer shows, so spectators could instantly buy the fashions they saw. The colour of the season was purple.
Whether it was a tailored suit or patterned slip dress, a purple haze of outfits swished down the catwalk in block shades at Mulberry and Emilia Wickstead. Micro florals inspired by English roses swept the runway at Preen and Topshop.
Florals are continually reimagined and this season it is a nod to the '90s by being smaller in size and edgier in colour and pattern. In the current political climate, designers were also using fashion as a platform for their opinions. Slogan tees were front and centre at the Ashish show, with powerful and thought-provoking messages.
Shearling was the fabric of the London shows. This warm material was on collars, sleeves and piping of coats and jackets at Anya Hindmarsh. No longer just a lining, shearling is to be worn on the outside.
The models were accessorised with statement earrings at Christopher Kane while cowboy boots were made for walking the runway at House of Holland. All of the AW17 trends had a fresh wearability.
