"Your law is stupid." - Defendant argues cannabis law

"YOUR law is stupid."

That was the defence a Mount Morgan mother of eight used when she was sentenced in Rockhampton Magistrates Court on October 7.

Elizabeth Gaye Jones, who appeared before Magistrate Mark Morrow without shoes, pleaded guilty to one count of driving under the influence of drugs.

"I like taking cannabis for cancer," Jones told the court.

"Your law is stupid and it's against a plant.

"I don't want to die yet.

"I'd just like you to know I'm a single parent with eight kids and I was out picking (my sons) arse up."

Jones was fined $100 and disqualified from driving for one month.
