THE Bulldogs have said goodbye to their oldest fan.
Nancy Edwards, a life member and a loyal and devoted supporter of the Bulldogs for many years, died peacefully on March 17 in Lismore New South Wales, aged 97.
Bulldogs' head trainer and life member Sharon Clapham said Nancy will be remembered as the club's greatest supporter.
She was involved in the club when the Bulldogs were called the Sharks, sitting on the wing in bay 13 waving the club flag.
After each game the boys would always go over to Nancy, singing the club song when they won or giving her a round of applause in defeat. She cheered the team on to the finish of every match.
The Bulldogs said Nancy's death was a sad day for the club, and she will be long remembered.
"Rest peacefully Nancy, we know that you are waving that flag and cheering us on from heaven," the club said in a statement provided to the Bribie Weekly.
Nancy donated a trophy to the club every year.
This will now become an annual memorial trophy or award in her honour and present the club with an opportunity to share memories and stories.
A representative of the club wore a Bulldogs shirt at Nancy's funeral at Goonellabah on March 31.
