FORMER Toowoomba DJ and singer/songwriter Kate Foxx is taking the world by storm.

The Gold Coast-based artist just released her debut single Gimme That with Bombs Away.

She moved to Leyburn from Melbourne when she was 12 and it was when she was on the hour-long bus trip to Clifton State High School that she first discovered dance music.

"I'd think to myself how well certain tracks would go together and how cool it would be to be the person who actually mixed the songs together, without realizing that was what a DJ did until I started going out as an 18-year-old," she said.

"I always pushed the idea of pursuing music aside until I realized if I didn't do it now, I'd always regret it. And here we are."

She will be playing at the Cube Hotel on Saturday night.
