Dole bludger capital? The Qld town named Australia's worst

CABOOLTURE is the nation's dole bludger capital.

With 387 people failing ­consistently to turn up to work-for-the-dole appointments or jobseeker interviews in the last year, it has the worst rate of welfare non-compliance the land.

In Queensland, Caboolture is followed by Deception Bay, which was fifth overall, Woodridge, Southport and Inala, according to a list of shame from the Turnbull Government as it cracks down on welfare recipients ripping off taxpayers.

More than 22,900 people in Queensland failed to turn up to five or more Centrelink appointments or job interviews in the last year, the figures show.

Human Services Minister Alan Tudge said that most welfare recipients do everything they can to find a job, but "there are too many who deliberately flout the system and have been getting away with it".
