A PHOTOGRAPHER tasked by Toowoomba Regional Council to portray the "beauty" of the region has captured stunning drone footage.
Dan Proud shared a snippet of the footage he captured in recent weeks which since went viral on social media.
The video shows coal trains snaking along the Toowoomba escarpment, fertile fields and the beauty of Toowoomba at dusk.
It also portrays the iconic Table Top Mountain, Picnic Point and the Grand Central redevelopment.
Mr Proud said he picked a few nice locations after spending weeks scouting the region.
He persistently filmed through adverse conditions, compiling a library of footage.
Using his DJI Inspire 2 drone, which can shoot in 5k resolution for about half an hour, he put together a snapshot of the region. The high-tech drone is powered by lithium batteries.
The Toowoomba photographer often works out of town and said it was nice to be asked to work from home.
He said it was important the community realised drone operators needed to be licensed.
"I've been working for a long time to be licensed and every job has a safety assessment.
"The council contracted us because we follow all the regulations."
The council is planning to use the footage to promote the region and for its Facebook page and YouTube channel.
Mr Proud's footage was praised by former Toowoomba Chamber of Commerce and Industry general manager Leanne Gillam and Cr Geoff McDonald.
