Groom and guests ill after wedding at the Hilton Brisbane

AUTHORITIES are investigating after the groom and up to 50 guests fell ill following a wedding reception at the Hilton Brisbane.

The guests reported suffering gastrointestinal illness following the reception on Friday, which was reportedly attended by about 150 people.

Metro North Public Health Unit physician James Smith said the event was catered by the Hilton and an external caterer.

"PHU is aware that a small number of people may have presented to hospital for treatment," he said.

"Investigations are continuing to find the cause of the illness."
