Holmes ready for quarter final against Scotland

MONDAY, 1am Queensland time, Allora prop Greg Holmes has a date with the Scotland rugby union team.

Holmes is a reserve for the Wallabies for the quarter-final showdown in the Rugby World Cup as part of a bench front row which has 150 Tests to their credit, 21 to Holmes, 58 to Tatafu Polota-Nau (58 Tests) and 71 for Holmes' Queensland Reds teammate James Slipper.

The game at Twickenham, the home of English rugby, is another part of a dream season for Holmes who has returned to the Australian team after an absence of eight years.

Holmes will play in the same game in which Matt Giteau and Stephen Moore will clock up their 100th games for the Wallabies.

As one of the most experienced players in the team, Holmes has seen at first hand the careers of Giteau and Moore, especially Moore as the pair often pack side by side in the front row.

Holmes has won a Super rugby title with the Reds, now he is three wins away from a World Cup title with the Wallabies.
