This is how a snake breathes while eating huge meals

EVER wondered how a python breathes while it swallows dinner? Wonder no longer.

Snake Catchers 24/7 yesterday shared a video of a carpet python swallowing an unfortunate cat in Nambour - but a strange sight at the corner of its mouth would leave most onlookers perplexed.

Snake catcher Max revealed the carpet python had regurgitated its wind pipe so it could breathe while it ate.

"If you've ever wondered how a snake breathes whilst eating a large meal then check this video out," he said.

"You can clearly see the large snake breathing in and out through the organ that it has regurged through the side of its mouth whilst consuming this large meal.

"Unfortunately the cat was already deceased upon arriving to the Nambour property and can serve as a reminder to keep your cats indoors."

Snakes actually have two lower jaw bones, connected only by tendons, ligaments and muscle.

This lets the snake stretch its mouth around meals far bigger than its head.
