A 21-YEAR-OLD man has been charged with 27 offences after running at a police car on the Gold Coast.

Police were patrolling at Palm Beach on the weekend when they tried to stop a car that was allegedly displaying stolen number plates.

The car sped off and police were forced to use spikes to stop it. The man then jumped out of the car and ran at the police vehicle, fell to the ground and immediately got up and tried to run away.

Police arrested and charged him. The man was treated at hospital for minor abrasions.
