Man seriously injured in explosion on property

UPDATE 4PM: A MAN who has been seriously injured in an explosion west of Ipswich is being taken to the PA Hospital in a stable condition.

The man sustained a broken jaw, deep cuts and burns to his face on a Minden property about 2pm Wednesday.

It is believed the man was conducting some burning off when the explosion occurred.

The Rescue 500 chopper was called to transport the 42-year-old man.

EARLIER: A MAN is being airlifted to hospital following an apparent explosion at Minden, west of Ipswich.

The Rescue 500 emergency chopper was called about 2pm following reports of a 42-year-old man that had been injured while burning off on private property.

A QAS spokeswoman said initial reports suggested shrapnel from the explosion struck the man in the face, causing a broken jaw, deep cuts and burns.
