MATT Campbell has the fastest time after the first practice session in the Bathurst round of the Porsche Carrera Cup.

The young gun from Warwick was timed at two minutes, nine seconds, for the fastest time this morning and said his pit crew had made a few minor adjustments before the 3.30pm (Qld time) session this afternoon.

"It is great to race at Bathurst with the longer laps, longer track and more corners," he said.

"Bathurst is a lot more technical than most tracks."

There is qualifying and one race tomorrow and races on Saturday and Sunday.

The Sunday race for the Porsche cars will be before the Bathurst 1000.
