Allan Sutherland to face corruption watchdog's questions

MORETON Bay Regional Council Mayor Allan Sutherland has been called as a witness for a public hearing into the 2016 local government elections.

The Crime and Corruption Commission will launch a seven-day hearing as a part of Operation Belcarra's investigations into the conduct of candidates from Moreton Bay, Gold Coast and Ipswich City councils.

Deputy Mayor and Division 9 councillor Mike Charlton will also face the firing line as the CCC gathers information and "canvass broader issues related to corruption and integrity in local government".

The hearing is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 18 April 2017, with CCC Chairperson Alan MacSporran QC as presiding officer.
