PREPARE to feel like you're in dire need of a Disney movie marathon because the studio has finally released the first picture from its Mary Poppins remake - and it's glorious.

The movie won't hit screens until Christmas next year but promo images have been released to get the world excited, and it's obviously working.

From the brightly patterned carpetbag to her leather gloves and cobalt caped coat, everything that made the world fall in love with the original Mary Poppins is there.

The bird-adorned hat is the icing on the cake as she whimsically stares down the original Cherry Tree Lane.

Mary Poppins (Emily Blunt) returns to the Banks home after many years and uses her magical skills to help the now grown up Michael and Jane rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives in the first image from the set of the movie Mary Poppins Returns.

The remake, entitled Mary Poppins Returns, will take place in 1930s London and sees the magical nanny returning to visit the now grown Michael and Jane Banks and help them "rediscover the joy and wonder missing in their lives".

Blunt will be joined by her Into The Woods co-star Meryl Streep as well as Colin Firth, Hamilton's Lin Manuel Miranda, Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw.

Dick Van Dyke will also make a featured appearance.

The movie will be directed by Rob Marshall, who also directed Blunt and Streep in the musical fairytale Into The Woods.

The original, which graced our screens back in 1964, starred the iconic Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke.

The movie scored 13 Academy Award nominations and won Andrews the Oscar for best actress.

Live-action remakes of Disney films have been extremely popular over the last few years.

Cinderella, Maleficent and The Jungle Book were all hugely successful.

The remake of Beauty and the Beast, which stars Emma Watson and is in cinemas now, is also proving to be popular with audiences.
