The new Star Wars film just got a whole lot worse

HAN Solo is there. So's Leia. And Chewbacca, R2D2 and C-3PO.

But the big omission from the new Star Wars poster, released yesterday ahead of today's new trailer, seemed to be Luke Skywalker.

One fan thinks someone else was missing: Jar Jar Binks.

Star Wars fanatic Olly Gibbs decided to right that wrong by inserting the loathed Gungan from George Lucas' second trilogy into the poster.

Not once, not twice, but six times.

Jar Jar is unlikely to play a part in JJ Abrams' The Force Awakens when it's released on December 18.

As one of the most hated characters in the Star Wars universe, many think he ruined the second trilogy with his awkward posture, slapstick shenanigans and unbearable accent.

The new Star Wars trailer is due for release today, late afternoon New Zealand-time.
