A MAN who allegedly threatened to kill Queensland Premier Campbell Newman has appeared in court.

Reece Kyle Casey, 26, did not appear in court in February when he was scheduled in Caboolture Magistrates Court as it was believed he wished to avoid media scrutiny.

Mr Casey was accused of using a fake Facebook account to threaten to slit the throats of Mr Newman and his wife Lisa.

The message, posted to Mr Newman's official Facebook page on January 29, warned Mr Newman to protect his loved ones.

Mr Casey was charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

When Mr Casey did finally appear in court on Monday he managed to mostly avoid the media scrum that was waiting for him last time.

Previously the prosecution argued to have the matter dealt with as early as possible as Mr Casey had expressed intent to return to his home at New Zealand.

During a brief appearance on Monday, the matter was adjourned to be heard again on April 7.
