South Grafton pedophile in court again on 20 more charges

A SOUTH Grafton man convicted of a number of child sex offences last year is due to face court again on 20 similar charges later this month.

The man, in his 40s, who cannot be named because of the risk of identifying his victims, was released from jail earlier this year, but was arrested and charged on other matters.

He appeared in Coffs Harbour Local Court on September 25 on three counts of committing an act of indecency with person under 16 years, 17 of aggravated indecent assault of a victim under the age of 16 years and nine of aggravated sexual assault of a victim under the age of 16 years.

It is understood the offences predate those the man was convicted on, but the information that led to the current charges began to emerge during that investigation.

Bail has been refused. He will appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court again on October 13 for mention.

Police said the majority of sexual assaults on children were committed by someone in a position of trust.
