UPDATE: A MAN charged for murdering his brother at Karana Downs on the weekend made a brief appearance in Ipswich Magistrates Court this morning.
Michele Franciose Theodoor Willemyns, 56, is charged with one count of murder.
He did not make an application for bail and is remanded in custody until later in the month.
UPDATE: A man has been charged with murder following the death of a 53-year-old man at Karana Downs yesterday afternoon.
The man, who lived a gated community, has been identified as a chef at an exclusive golf club, the Courier-Mail reported.
Police found the body of Patrick Willemyns, 53, at a residence on College Rd, Karana Downs about 1pm on Monday.
It is understood Mr Willemyns, who worked as the head chef at the nearby Karana Downs Golf Club, died from trauma.
Police overnight charged a man with murder.
"A 56-year-old South Brisbane man was arrested last night and charged with murder," police said.
Karana Downs Golf Club owner Brett Lawton said Mr Willemyns had worked at the restaurant for three years and was a "much loved" member of staff.
The club posted a notice on its Facebook page marking the tragic loss.
"Today we farewell a great friend and chef Patrick Willemyns, we will miss you mate, R.I.P from the team at Karana Downs Golf Club."
One member wrote: "Such a sad day. Prayers and thoughts to his family. Both Denham and I are beyond words."
Another wrote: "Thinking of your club team and our community. RIP Patrick, thanks for all your lovely meals."
"You will be missed Pat so so sad RIP buddy,'' read another message.
The man charged with the murder is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court Tuesday morning.
Investigations are continuing.
Crime scene set up at home where man died
POLICE have swarmed on a unit complex in Karana Downs after a man's body was discovered yesterday afternoon.
A resident of the College Rd units alerted police after discovering the body inside one of the rooms about 1pm.
Police have remained tight-lipped on details, with the man's identity yet to be confirmed.
"At this point in time I'm unable to provide a cause of death, and we are yet to determine the identity of the person," Snr Sgt McQueen said.
"These things are still under investigation.
"This death is being treated as suspicious and we're asking if anyone may have information in relation to this incident to come forward and provide information through Crime Stoppers."
A resident of the complex who alerted police to the man's body is assisting with inquiries.
"It is very early days in the investigation, and preliminary inquiries are still being conducted.
"There's a large number of investigators - forensic officers, scenes of crime officers and police - working on this as we speak to identify the male person and to identify the cause of death."
