Police tackle man to ground during foot chase

POLICE tackled a man to the ground during a short foot chase after he was caught out allegedly breaking into a Maryborough home. 

The drama unfolded just before 6am Thursday after a report was made to police of an alleged break-in on Zante St. 

Police allege the man attempted to run from them before he was arrested. 

When crews arrived neighbours came out to confess other homes had been broken into in the area. 

The 23-year-old Maryborough local has been charged with six counts including break and enter and wilful damage. 

He allegedly stole clothing and a couple of bottles of alcohol. 

The man is due to face Maryborough Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
