Prince William and Aussie model in media frenzy

A CENTRAL Coast model has found herself embroiled in a media frenzy after photos emerged of her partying with Prince William during an intimate lunch on the ski slopes of Switzerland.

The pictures of Australian beauty Sophie Taylor and the Prince made front page news in the UK, where media yesterday criticised William for hitting the ski slopes with his mates while the rest of the Royal Family attended official Commonwealth Day services.

Meanwhile, Kate Middleton was left at home with the couple's young children.

In an exclusive interview with The Daily Telegraph, the 24-year-old model's mother Joni insisted her daughter was a "girl of integrity".

"Sophie said they met and had a few drinks," the Wamberal mother revealed. "She said he was lovely and a down to earth person."

Joni said her daughter was "in shock" at the media reaction.

Taylor and Prince William were photographed downing Jagerbombs, beer and wine at the lunchtime gathering in the Swiss resort of Verbier, which also included royal pals Guy Pelly, James Meade and Tom Van Straubenzee.

Following an afternoon on the slopes, the group reconvened at a nearby restaurant before partying at Taylor's workplace late into the evening.

Shutting down the suggestion of any romance between the pair, Joni Taylor said nothing happened. Sophie has a partner, too - bartender-turned-chef Aaron Goodfellow.

"She is such a girl on integrity," her mother said. "There is no way she would put him in an awkward position.

"She would certainly never put anyone in that position."

Brought up in Wamberal, Sophie attended Terrigal High School before pursuing a local career in modelling.

"She was (represented) by us from 2012-15, before moving overseas to London," former agent at Chadwick's Joseph Tenni said.

"I remember her being super professional and polite."

Switzerland's high-end ski resort Verbier is a favourite of Leonardo DiCaprio, Richard Branson and the Beckhams.

Taylor moved to the Swiss slopes with partner Goodfellow after a stint in London several years ago.

Goodfellow yesterday told The Sun the Prince was "very down to earth".
