IT WOULD be hard to think of a more picturesque theme for a street parade than "Fireflies and Western Skies," so it's no wonder Warwick residents are looking forward to this year's rodeo festival street parade.
Each year the Warwick Rose and Rodeo Festival culminates in a big weekend of family activities including the Warwick Daily News Street Carnival and the Warwick Credit Union Street Parade.
This year's parade theme has schools, community groups and businesses channelling their best campsite memories for their entries.
Visitors to the street carnival can have their photo taken at the Warwick Men's Shed cowboy photo board, capturing all the fun of the festival.
There is also a bucking pony for the children to have their photo taken on.
For rodeo enthusiasts keen to know how they would handle eight seconds on a more life-like high-flying bull, the mechanical bull will be wired up for action again this year.
Palmerin St will also once again be transformed into a classic racecourse for the annual Buchner Family Celebrity Horse Race, with heats starting at 6.30pm followed by a grand final.
The street carnival will kick off at 6pm on Friday at the corner of Grafton and Palmerin Sts.
The parade begins at noon on Saturday and will travel along Palmerin St.
