Ute driver clocked at nearly 200kmh

THE Easter road safety campaign has started poorly for at least one driver who was caught doing nearly 200kmh on the Sunshine Mwy.

Police said the ute was clocked at Mooloolaba doing 194kmh in the 100kmh zone yesterday.

Officers and fixed speed cameras caught more than 3300 motorists driving faster than the limit across Queensland yesterday.

There were also 58 drink drivers and 52 drug drivers detected state-wide.

The Easter campaign will continue until midnight on Monday.
