THREE people were spotted fleeing the scene where Tyrone Michael Baynton was murdered and police urge the public to come forward with information that could help in finding them.

The 29-year-old died after being stabbed in the neck at a North Mackay residence on Sunday.

Detective Inspector Nikki Colfs said yesterday that although witnesses had told them about the three people, they had been unable to provide descriptions.

"We've had witnesses come forward to advise us that three persons, description unknown, have been seen running from the premises," she said.

"A witness also attended the Caltex service station and made a triple 0 call to police in relation to this matter."

The murder weapon had not been found.

Specialists and detectives were continuing to process the crime scene today, which Det Insp Colfs said could take up to a week.

"We do have a few more people, we have the forensic coordinator here today, scientific and further scenes of crimes officers that are processing the crime scene. They should be here for another couple of days," she said.

"Obviously someone must have seen something, someone must know something or someone must have heard something, could they please contact triple 0 and assist us with this investigation."
