Video: 50yo woman killed in car crash outside of Gladstone

Update 8.45am:

THE woman who died in a car accident last was a resident of the Awoonga Dam Caravan Park for the last two years.

Residents and employees at the Caravan Park said she was known for her infectious laugh.

Update 6.40am:

THE Gladstone Police believe that speed was a factor in last night's fatal single vehicle accident.

The driver was a 50 year old woman.

A Gladstone police spokesman said she was not a permanent Gladstone resident.

Earlier: 

A WOMAN has been killed after her car collided with a tree at Benaraby, south of Gladstone.

The discovery was made by a driver heading along Awonga Dam Road at 8pm on Wednesday.

The woman was the only person in the crashed car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Queensland Police Service has dispatched its Forensic Crash Unit to investigate.

The woman is among the 169 people to have been killed on Queensland's roads this year.
