UPDATE: A woman critically injured after her car collided with a truck in Toowoomba is fighting for her life in hospital this morning.
A Toowoomba Hospital spokesman said the patient was in a serious but stable condition.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services were forced to cut the woman, aged in her 20s, from the wreck of a small sedan after it was involved in a crash with a semi-trailer on Carrington Rd in Torrington about 2.30pm yesterday.
Fire crews using hydraulic cutting equipment managed to cut the woman from the damaged vehicle within 20 minutes of the incident.
The woman, believed to be the driver of the sedan, was rushed to the Toowoomba Hospital where she remains in a critical condition.
The truck driver was not injured.
The crash, which occurred in a signed 70kmh zone through the busy industrial area on the western outskirts of the city, closed the road for more than two hours.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
WEDNESDAY 2.50PM: A woman aged in her 20s is in a critical condition after the car she was driving collided with a truck in Toowoomba.
The crash occurred about 2.30pm on Carrington Rd, Torrington.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Service crews had to use hydraulic cutting equipment to free the woman from the wreckage.
She was freed about 2.50pm and was treated at the scene by Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics.
The woman was taken by ambulance to Toowoomba Hospital.
Carrington Rd is currently closed in both directions while emergency services work to clear the scene.
2.30PM: A truck and car have collided in Toowoomba with reports one person is trapped.
The crash occurred on Carrington Rd, Torrington, about 2.30pm.
Emergency services are responding.
There are reports a female aged in her 20s has been seriously hurt. It is believed she was driving the car that collided with the truck.
The truck driver has escaped injury.
The incident has occurred outside Pengelly Truck And Trailer Sales And Service.
